Dirt Wurx USA wraps up its British Supercross Championship track build in Liverpool & London

Dirt Wurx's Rich Winkler crafts two gems for Future West Promotions’ British SX Series, rounds 3 & 4 close out the series with great racing action

MONROE, N.Y. (Feb. 6, 2010) - Despite typical rainy UK conditions and seemingly perpetually soggy soil, international motocross and supercross track builders Dirt Wurx USA put its design and construction expertise to work at the final two rounds of the British Supercross Championship – Liverpool & London – helping bring together some great racing action for both local and global racers and fans alike.

Both Liverpool’s Echo Arena (Rd. 3) and London’s O2 Arena (Rd. 4) featured some incredibly soft conditions for the riders – those of which would be somewhat familiar to fans of eastern U.S. supercross racing back in the day of the Pontiac (Mich.) Silverdome. The Liverpool and London courses rutted up like slot car tracks for some good ‘ol fashioned ‘pick-a-rut’ style racing that, in all honesty, UK motocrossers are quite familiar with.

“The weather was rough and everything was soaked, so the tracks were very soft,” said Dirt Wurx’s Rich Winkler. “It was the worst conditions to work in we’ve ever experienced over there. The ruts effected some of the jump combos, as well as some of the riders who rode more aggressively. But in the end most of the riders adapted pretty well and the racing ended up being really good – at least the crowd was into it.”

Much of the same weather-wise at the London facility where Dirt Wurx employed a more traditional DG (Decomposed Granite)-style cinder type dirt that came together a bit better than the red, sand-based and mostly clay-less dirt used in Liverpool.

For the record it’d be American Heath Voss who would sweep both the Liverpool and London races, with Canadian Colton Facciotti winning the overall 2010 British Supercross Championship in both the Pro Open and Pro Lites classes.
